What accommodation types does Shoestrings offer?
We offer multiple self catering options to suit different budgets and traveller styles:
Shared Dormitories
1 x 6 bed (3 bunks) and 2 x 10 bed (5 bunks) mixed dormitories. Perfect for solo travellers and backpackers looking to meet other guests. Each bed has a privacy curtain, reading light and universal plug point. All have access to nearby communal ablutions.
Private Double/Twin Rooms
7 Teak rooms that can be configured to 2 twin beds or 1 double bed. As well as 4 double rooms and a family room (1 double bed & 1 bunk, sleep 4). All are en-suite with toilet, shower and basin.
Dome Tents
22 x Safari style canvas tents with 2 single beds in each. Each tent also has reading light, universal plug point and bedside table. All have access to nearby communal ablutions.
All accommodation options include access to our swimming pool, bar and WiFi.
What time is check-out? Can I get a late check-out? What time is check-in? Can I get an early check-in?

Check Out: 07:00 - 10:00 AM
Early Check-in/Late Check-out: Subject to availability. Please contact us in advance if you need flexibility. We can also arrange luggage storage for you prior to check in or after check out.
Can I request rooms farthest from the bar?
Looking for peace and quiet? Our Masasa rooms and Dome tents are the farthest from the bar. Just let us know when booking, and we’ll do our best to reserve one for you. Keep in mind, availability can’t always be guaranteed.
Does Shoestrings have WiFi?
Yes! We do have WiFi on the property. The connection is generally good for browsing, social media and video calls. It can be slower during peak hours when many guests are online. The main router is near the bar and moving far away from that area may result in connectivity issues and slower loading speeds.
Do the rooms have TVs?
Our rooms do not have TV's in them, however there is one by the bar that is connected to DSTV that guests are free to use.
Are lockers available in the dorm rooms?
We do have lockers available for individual use. You'll need to bring your own padlock or purchase one at the reception.
Does Shoestrings have self catering facilities?
Yes! All our rooms rates include access to our communal self catering kitchen facilities. This is equipped with a fridge, two plate cooker, electric kettle, toaster, sink, basic cookware, crockery and cutlery.
